ultra-fast sketch dump

these are 10-15 min sketches. I feel I have a decent control with the pencil/pen, but with a stylus? a small fish swimming with sharks, that's what I am. So here you go, trial and error.

baby steps into 3D animation - part 2

I forgot to export this as a cycle again, sorry. Anyway, still taking it easy with 3D, not really feeling it though. I'll get on some 2D walk cycles soon.

Tivoli

I suck at environments. This was essentially what I turned into class today. Though just like two posts ago, I'm not happy with the turnout. I want to keep working on this, but I have so much crap to do, I may have to put it off til I finish the quarter. I will definitely keep working on those environments, even if they are speed paintings. Need to get better at this. It's based (not a copy) on Fragonard's "The Grand Cascade at Tivoli".

GoAnimate! An Animation Revolution!....it's not

I'm actually glad someone finally said this. Also glad it was Harry Partridge who did. I remember when Family guy started, it was all frame by frame. Granted, now it looks pretty and on-model, but sacrificed animation for...whatever weird content they had. Same thing with the Simpsons (look at the old intro, compare it to the newer one. Looks great, lacks all the dynamic movement the old one had)

And not trying to crap on GoAnimate!'s parade more than people already have, I'm sure programing it took a while, but really it's one step close to just being text. A freakin Bot reads your lines! I know, animation takes time, but hell, this is just...ugh, dont even know anymore.

Fashion crap

So this is one of my projects for a fashion drawing class. It exceeds the artistic level of the class itself, but as a stand alone piece, I'm not happy at all. It's due soon, but I think I'll keep working on this on my own. You can see the line art on the previews post.

Little Thor

Little Thor is just so goddamn adorable.

And also sketch dump.

That face

Usually dont like wasting posts on here (I dont spare them at my tumblr though) But I just loved the face on that last post below. Seriously, I dont even know why, it's a stupid face, but even as I was working on it I was giggling like a 5 year old. So here it is, one last time. And now to move on.

Wonder dump

I've been working on getting the 3D animation basics down, so not much time for the good ol' 2D anims. Which blows, I love making those. I'll try to crunch another one before the month's end.

I was watching "The Warrior's Way". Thought it was funny how the main character carried the baby around like this.

Robot-Jerk design

So I finally got a chance to scan in the turnarounds for this character. I'm hoping to have this guy modeled and rigged so I can play around with it. A rough 2D test of him is below, check it!

Getting Noticed: Social Networking for the Freelance Artists

This is brilliant. A lot of useful advice on how to get noticed and advance on your career as an artist. Definitely worth checking out if you got a few minutes to kill.
Another sketch dump (yay?)

Self portrait. Ah morning glories.

for shits and giggles, I decided to take a fashion drawing class (whatthecrap?) I dont know a damn thing about fashion, so that should be interesting. Here's a few designs I made for that class, pretty terrible. The bad color pencil job doesnt help.

A lot of quick "people watching" this time around.

Character studies for an animation that got scrapped

baby steps into 3D animation

So I've been messing around with 3Ds Max. It's not terribly hard once I sort of got the hang of it. It's less definately less time consuming, but I feel it looses a bit of the charm that you get with doing stuff in 2D. But thats just my opinion though.

Some very basic exercises on Max:

sketchdump galore

aha! another sketch dump, how exciting (totally not ripping Da Vinci from Assassin's Creed 2)

I had a chance to work on a Cintiq today for a few hours, definitely had more control over the piece than with the regular tablet. Dont feel the love for it anymore :/

The forest sketch from the Zelda picture in the previews posts.

Trying to develop a character for the monthly 11 Second Club Challenge.

Just a few doodles of characters from a comic I will probably never draw.

Tried re-doing the Kill Bill shot I messed up last time, in pencil instead. I STILL managed to mess up. Jeez!

Zelda quick doodle

Made this for the drawing jam at CGHub, and did it with the utmost speed, that it looks like hell. I literally started it a few hours before the final voting started so...But I wanna fix it, honest D:
